How does Monte get good Acoustic Distortion?

How does Monte get a good Acoustic Distortion sound?  Does he use a special EQ or a speaker emulator pedal?  Or none of the above?

He uses an Ibanez TS9 distortion pedal. Other pedals he uses are a BOSS Digital Reverb, Boss Tremelo, Boss CS-2 Compressor Sustainer and a delay.
